No new system this time - this one's about making what's already here feel better to use. A smoother interface, a tutorial that doesn't trap new players, and a defence bug that was quietly lying to you.
A smoother, quieter interface
If you've been playing for a while you'll have noticed the top bar and side menu flicker and rebuild themselves every time you moved between screens. That's gone - the shell stays put now, so moving around the game feels faster and a lot less jumpy. While I was in there I also tidied up the dashboard: the panels are a consistent set now, each one showing what's active, what's incoming and what just finished, all the same height. Less noise, more at a glance.
New players can finish the tutorial
This one's a bit embarrassing. The opening tutorial had a money problem - a couple of early steps cost more than the game had actually handed you, so a brand-new player could get stuck before they'd really started. I've re-derived the starting funds and the step rewards from the live build costs so every step pays for the next one, with a test that now fails if that ever drifts again. If you're already established this changes nothing for you - it's purely about not slamming the door on fresh starts.
A defence bug, fixed
When you defended a raid and lost units, those losses weren't actually coming off your garrison - so your defence looked stronger than it really was. That's fixed: casualties from a defence now reduce your garrisoned forces properly. Your defending numbers might read lower than you're used to, but that's because they're finally honest.
Nicer in-game updates
The in-game panel these notes show up in now handles proper formatting - headings, lists, links - and I've restyled it to match the rest of the game, with a cleaner fit on mobile. Dismissing it always marks it read now, so it won't nag you about something you've already seen.
Still alpha
Same as ever: this is polish and a fix, not a grand reveal. The point of this one is that the game feels looked-after - it doesn't flicker, it doesn't trap new players, and your defence tells you the truth. If the shell does something odd as you move around, or your numbers look wrong after a defence, tell me - those are exactly the rough edges I want flagged.
I'll post the next one when there's something worth telling.
