Keeping the Lights On - v0.0.6

Live now - 12/06/26.

This one's less about the numbers in a fight and more about how the game treats you around an update - plus a fix to keep the building economy honest. Not the flashiest release, but the kind of thing that makes the alpha feel less like a prototype.

Updates, in the game

Up to now, finding out what changed meant coming to find a post like this one. Now there's an updates panel inside the game. When something ships, you get the notes right there - read it, hit Acknowledged, and it stays gone until there's genuinely something new. Patch notes live here from now on, and these write-ups become the longer read for anyone who wants the why behind them.

Downtime that says so

When I push an update, the game sometimes needs a minute with the lights off. Until now that could look like things quietly breaking. Now you'll get a clear "maintenance in progress" screen with a note on what's happening, and it clears itself the moment the game's back. No guessing, no refreshing into a half-broken state.

Upgrades stay affordable

A fix tied to the last economy pass. The intent in v0.0.5 was that your storage cap is a target you bank toward, not a wall - but some later upgrades crept above what your storage could even hold, which quietly stalled progress. So now an upgrade can never cost more than you're able to store, which means you can always save up for the next one.

Two smaller things came with it: your storage cap is steadier - it no longer drifts when game speed changes - and the build screens now show what the next level actually gives you (credits an hour, parts an hour, build slots, and so on) before you commit to it.

Under the hood

The rest is the unglamorous stuff: better monitoring and recovery tools on my side so when something goes wrong I see it and can fix it faster, instead of finding out from you. Nothing to do at your end - it just means a steadier game.

Still alpha

Same as always: this is plumbing and a fix, not a grand new system. The point of this one is to make the alpha feel looked-after - you know when it's down, you know what changed, and the economy doesn't trap you. If maintenance mode misfires, or the updates panel nags you about something you've already read, tell me - those are exactly the rough edges I want flagged.

I'll post the next one when there's something worth telling.
